Nationwide travel-based position with potential job sites in Colorado, Wyoming, and Kansas.

Job Summary

The BMS Applications Engineer will lead the evaluation and documentation of HVAC-related monitoring systems, gathering knowledge from cross-departmental sources and transforming that knowledge into clear, user-friendly process documentation. This role requires a deep understanding of Building Management Systems and their role in maintaining environmental controls for temperature, humidity, and pressure. You’ll support continuous improvement initiatives and act as a strategic problem-solver while collaborating with team members across multiple functions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and document internal knowledge related to HVAC systems and BMS operations
  • Analyze current systems and identify documentation gaps across departments
  • Create or update standard work documentation with technical writing best practices
  • Ensure content is understandable and actionable for users at every level
  • Collaborate across departments to validate information and write from scratch when no prior documentation exists
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite and internal Quality Software tools to manage documentation
  • Utilize engineering methodology tools (CAPA, 5 Whys, Fishbone, Pareto, SPC, etc.) for analysis and problem-solving
  • Support process improvement by identifying inefficiencies and recommending solutions
  • Work independently with minimal supervision, managing priorities and timelines

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong experience with Building Management Systems in HVAC-related environments
  • Proven ability to document complex systems clearly and effectively
  • Familiarity with sensors, data acquisition systems, and HVAC process monitoring
  • Excellent technical writing and editing skills, with attention to clarity, grammar, and usability
  • Highly organized and strategic thinker with strong time management skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and gather information from subject matter experts
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite required; CAD and quality systems experience is a plus
  • Must be able to pass a drug test
  • Willing to travel and commit to assignments lasting 3 to 12 months
  • Able to work 2nd or 3rd shifts with 50+ hours per week including overtime

  • $75/hour + guaranteed weekly overtime (paid at time and a half)
