Job Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate Horizontal Boring Mills (HBM), including 5-axis machining systems.
  • Perform deburring using a variety of tools to meet project specifications.
  • Make offsets and adjustments as needed (no program modifications required).
  • Read and interpret blueprints and apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles.
  • Perform in-process inspections on critical features to ensure adherence to quality standards.

Requirements:

  • Experience:
  • Proven experience with 5-axis HBM machining.
  • Proficiency in deburring with various tools.
  • Strong understanding of blueprints, GD&T, and machining processes.
  • Inspection Skills:
  • Ability to perform in-process inspections on critical features.
  • Work Requirements:
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work 2nd and 3rd shifts, including overtime (50+ hours/week).
  • Willingness to travel for assignments ranging from 3 months to 1 year.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test.

Pay & Benefits:

  • Pay Rate: $40/hour.
  • Overtime: Guaranteed time and a half for hours worked beyond 40 each week.

  • Paid travel expenses (mileage reimbursement at $0.67/mile).

Job Location

Nationwide travel-based position with potential job sites in Utah, Nevada, and Arizona.

Job Summary

As a Precision Grinder with FlexTrades, you’ll work on complex, high-tolerance components using CNC ID/OD grinding machines equipped with Studer or Okamoto controls. You’ll interpret blueprints, follow GD&T requirements, and contribute to the production of intricate parts such as pistons, sleeves, cranks, and slides for high-performance systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC ID/OD grinders with Studer and Okamoto controls
  • Read and interpret standard (non-metric) blueprints
  • Apply GD&T knowledge to ensure accuracy in part geometry
  • Work with precision components including manifolds, pistons, sleeves, slides, and cranks
  • Maintain tight tolerances and perform detailed inspection of finished parts
  • Ensure consistent part quality and adherence to specifications
  • Follow established processes and contribute to continuous improvement
  • Work independently with minimal supervision

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with jig grinding is a plus
  • Background in aerospace, defense, medical, or other high-tolerance manufacturing is advantageous
  • Comfort working in a variety of environments with high-mix, low-to-medium volume production

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience with CNC ID/OD grinders
  • Familiarity with Studer and/or Okamoto controls
  • Strong understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading
  • Must pass a drug test
  • Able to work 2nd or 3rd shift with 50+ hours per week including overtime
  • Willingness to travel for 3- to 12-month assignments
  • No specific certifications or education required
