
Stamping Press Set-Up Operator
FlexTrades is hiring skilled Stamping Press Set-Up Operators for nationwide contract roles. Current project opportunities are available in Connecticut, New Jersey, and Rhode Island. If you have hands-on experience setting up and running progressive stamping presses—and you’re ready to take your career on the road—this opportunity is for you.
Job Responsibilities
- Set up and operate 60t to 330t hydraulic progressive stamping presses
- Equipment includes Minster, Seyi, L&G, Bliss, and Stamtec presses with Wintress controls
- Load proven programs into the controller (no editing or modification required; minor variable changes may occur)
- Work with a variety of materials: stainless steel (300 & 400 series), brass, copper, aluminum, mild steel, and carbon steel (.004? to ¼” thickness)
- Perform setups based on production needs, machine conditions, and die functionality
- Interpret both metric and imperial prints with GD&T (profile, concentricity, perpendicularity, flatness, etc.)
- Follow all paper-based documentation processes and complete in-process inspection forms
- Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI/FPI) when setting up new dies
- Operate overhead cranes (½t to 2t), jibs, hoists, forklifts, push carts, and pallet jacks
- Perform auxiliary tasks including coil changes, pan swaps, and light part handling (wiping, inspecting, cleaning)
Quality Expectations
- Tolerances range from ±.001” to ±.010” depending on part and feature
- Inspection frequency is determined by lot size and part complexity
- Strict adherence to documentation and inspection protocols required
Pay and Benefits
- $32/hour
- Guaranteed overtime every week (50+ hours), paid at time and a half
- Paid travel to and from job sites
- Paid lodging (single-occupancy hotel room)
- $45/day per diem

- Flexibility to take time off between assignments
- Work independently with little to no supervision
- Assignments range from 3 months to 1 year
- Must be able to work 2nd or 3rd shifts, including weekends and overtime
- Pre-employment drug testing required
