Manual Machinist
FlexTrades is seeking skilled Manual Machinists to join our nationwide team, with immediate opportunities available in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. As a Manual Machinist with FlexTrades, you’ll have the opportunity to work with top-tier equipment on custom machining projects, ensuring precision in all your work. You’ll play a critical role in manufacturing and refurbishing parts to exact specifications, working with materials such as stainless steel and Inconel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate a range of manual machining equipment, including Bridgeport Mills, Monarch Engine Lathes, Hardinge Chucking Lathes, and surface grinders.
- Perform machining operations including boring, turning, grooving, threading, milling, and drilling.
- Handle rework and remanufacture of parts, including pipe flanges built to ASME B16.5 standards.
- Apply and repair serrations on flanges to meet photographic surface finishes (grooved finishes).
- Read blueprints and written work instructions to set up, operate, and complete machining tasks.
- Ensure compliance with GD&T standards including runout, parallelism, true position, and flatness.
- Maintain tight tolerances, ranging from +/-.001? to .005?, and deliver surface finishes from 16-125 Ra.
- Follow cycle times for serration machining, with each cycle averaging 4 hours per serration.
Equipment & Materials:
- Familiarity with manual HBM (4’ square table) and band saws for raw material cutting.
- Majority of materials include stainless steel and Inconel.
- Utilize crane systems for loading/unloading parts onto HBM machines.
Job Qualifications:
- Proven experience with manual machining tools and equipment.
- Strong understanding of blueprints and GD&T callouts.
- Ability to work to tight tolerances and ensure high-quality surface finishes.
- Experience in repair work and custom machining is preferred.
Pay & Benefits:
- Pay: $38/hour with guaranteed overtime paid at time and a half.
- Travel expenses: Paid travel to and from job sites (Mileage reimbursed at $0.67/mile).
- Lodging: Paid single-occupancy hotel room for the duration of the job.
- Per diem: $45/day for meals and incidental expenses.
